Channings Hotel

1/

Hotel and location

The 4* Channings is a delightful boutique hotel sympathetically restored and charmingly presented. The hotel is set back from the city centre on a quiet cobblestone street but within an easy 15 minute walk of the varied shopping opportunities on Princes Street. A stroll along Edinburgh`s main thoroughfare takes you to the Scott Monument, one of Edinburgh`s main spires and one of Princes Street`s most famous landmarks. The dark neo-gothic monument dedicated to Sir Walter Scott is the world`s largest monument ever built in memory of a writer. Historic Edinburgh Castle dominates the skyline and can also be reached in around 10 minutes on foot. A further 5-10 minute walk takes you to the Old Town where you can marvel at the medieval architecture or take an underground tour and discover how people lived in the city hundreds of years ago.

Room and facilities

All 46 elegant rooms are ensuite with complimentary Molton Brown toiletries. Each room has high speed wireless internet connectivity, satellite television, hairdryer, direct-dial telephone, safety deposit box, trouser press and evening turndown service. Onsite is Channings restaurant, an intimate gourmet restaurant offering European cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere. Ochre Vita is an informal restaurant featuring Mediterranean-style lunch and dinner dishes, snacks in the afternoon and drinks until late evening. After dinner guests can stroll around the hotel`s own mature private gardens.
Please Note: The hotel will be closing on 30.11.17

Fabulous comfort - home away from home!

One awkward moment at check out when I was given the bill for the two nights - I explained that I had already paid through HotelDirect.co.uk but not before seeing that they would have charged me £18 less......

Ladies week end away

Spent a very pleasant week end away with friends staying at The Channings Hotel. Excellent accommodation and the breakfast ( included in our room rates) was also very good. Staff very friendly and helpful. We didn`t have our own transport but buses readily available near by in to Princess Street. Would definitely recommend this hotel to others....

Charming well-run hotel. Ideal for single travelle...

I had room 6 on the ground floor as I had requested. It was immaculate and well planned with an excellent bathroom which had a rubber mat and low bath which was ideal for those with mobility problems. I ate in the hotel for the three nights of my stay and found the food well cooked and appetising. My one criticism would be that the room was rather cold at times....
