Guests wishing to travel further afield can enjoy a day walking on the Yorkshire Moors and Dales which are less than 40 minutes drive from the City.
All of the 27 rooms at this delightful 4* AA-Rated Guest House are decorated and furnished in a style that compliments the hotel`s original Victorian features. By contrast the ensuite bathrooms are modern in design and include complimentary toiletries. The hotel`s rooms have a contemporary design, including one with with garden view and Alpine Chalet theme. Free Wi-Fi is available in the hotel`s public areas. PLEASE NOTE:This property was previously categorised as a 4* hotel by the AA grading system. In 2024 in was re-categorised as a 4* Guesthouse, for which star-ratings do not apply. Although some rooms rates are described as Double/Twin this hotel only has double bedded rooms.

Sadly only stayed 1 night, but great service from the off. Room was lovely, and loved quirky decor throughout. Would defo stay again....

This Hotel is absolutely amazing, the decor is the like I have never seen before, outstanding, the room is kitted out with everything needed to make your stay an easy time, finally the staff are so laid back and helpful, oh and it`s go a great bar for a nice drink....

Beautiful hotel on a quiet street a short walk from the city centre. We chose it because it looked unique, not Ike a characterless chain and also because it had parking ( which was very reasonably priced as well). We were not disappointed. Set on a quiet street away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, but only a short walk from the Minster. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, Receptionist on check in was extremely pleasant and offered various suggestions for things to do. Night staff and at breakfast also very pleasant and helpful. Room was spacious and beautifully furnished. There is a bar and a lovely lounge too. We paid for breakfast which was great with plenty of choice. In all, we were very happy to have chosen Marmedukes Townhouse and would recommend highly...

The reception was warm and the hotel was within walking distance of the city centre. There was a comfortable lounge and bar. The room provided was well appointed and the bed was comfortable. Only small drawback for us "older folk" was that there was no slip mat or grab handle in the shower which otherwise was good and had plenty of hot water. All in all, good value for money....
