The Savoy

Hotel and location:

The Savoy re-opened its doors in October 2010 after a £220m, 3 year restoration. This iconic hotel on the Strand now has World Class 5 star facilities. The hotel overlooks the great sweep of the Thames with the Houses of Parliament in one direction and the City of London in the opposite. Designed by Pierre Yves Rochon the new hotel is a deft fusion of the Savoy`s Edwardian and Art Deco roots with 21st century technology and 5 star luxury standards.

The hotel rooms reflect the Edwardian and Art Deco aesthetics. All boast writing desks, armchairs, a personal bar, Loewe flat screen TVs, iPod docking stations, bespoke furnishings and marble bathrooms with the Savoy`s famed giant shower heads. Murano glass chandeliers, silk wall coverings and Italian linens complete the seductive ensemble of features. There are 4 restaurants including the new glass cupola Thames Foyer with Winter Garden Gazebo serving English Afternoon Tea, the River Restaurant serving modern French cuisine and Savoy Grill by Gordon Ramsay. The famous American Bar continues to serve the finest cocktails in London, 120 years on.

NEAREST UNDERGROUND: Charing Cross (Northern and Bakerloo lines). Exit station and turn right (opposite direction to Trafalgar Square) onto the Strand. The Savoy is a 2 minute walk.
