About the show

The Show
Just for One Day - The Live Aid Musical is a high energy show focusing on the story behind the legendary 1985 Live Aid concert. Rather than recreating the concert, the show focuses on the backstage drama, passion and global unity the made Live Aid a cultural phenomenon. The show features iconic songs from David Bowie, Queen, U2, Madonna and many more, celebrating the power of music to change the world.

History of Just for One Day - The Live Aid Musical
Director Luke Sheppard (&Juliet) and Producer Jamie Wilson wanted to create a show that captured the spirit of the concert and the behind the scenes drama, rather than copying the performances. The musical was written by John O'Farrell (Mrs Doubtfire) and ended up going through several rewrites, after Bob Geldof initially criticized early versions for focusing too much on him rather than the cause. Eventually, Geldof became a key collaborator, and with the blessing of artists like David Bowie's estate, Queen's Brian May and Roger Taylor, and Pete Townsend the show gained momentum. The show premiered at The Old Vic, in London in 2024, and has now moved to the Shaftesbury Theatre where it continues to delight audiences.
